Work Record 6
For this shoot I decided to take photos of people to then later put nature pictures over them later in Photoshop to make it seem like they are personally reflecting on nature. Overall, I wanted to take a different approach to reflection in nature to show how I am experimenting with different techniques.
Unfortunately, I lost my SD card, therefore the photos I have enlarged are screen grabs and had ended up slightly blurry due to the lack of quality.
Christoffer Relander was the influence of this shoot because I wanted to create a more deeper meaning of photos to my and his work helped me figure out how. Relander combines both people and nature together and I wanted to do something similar to help present how people are reflecting on nature and how they can help save the environment. I like how Relander blends the two photos together effortlessly to help create the illusion more realistic.

Best Images
I like this photo because you can still see most of the models face but they’re not staring straight into the camera, therefore, creating this sense of reflection of life in the models face, this helped me steer my project through a different direction.
I like this photo because you are still able to see the models face but she is not looking at the camera to add an extra mysterious vibe. Also, I like how I will manipulate the photo later the hair will add texture and the pose the model is standing in will allow me to add more of the nature pictures in later.
I like this photo because you cannot see the models face to create mystery by not knowing their true identity. Also, I like how I have taken this photo in portrait because you are able to see more of the nature pictures later when I put them in.
Worst Images
I don't like this photo because it is too overly exposed making the photo seemed too whitewashed. Also you are not able to see much detail on the face because they are washed out from there being too much light coming through the camera.
I don't like this photo either for the same reason, due to the over exposure, the model has come out extremely pale and you're not able to see tone on her face which helps add extra depth. To avoid this in the future, when I'm in the studio I will double check the settings the light reader gives to make sure it is correct and when I am outside doing a shoot I'll double check my settings before taking a photo.
AO1 - For this shoot, I was heavily inspired by Christoffer Relander because his work has helped me think more broader and how I can expand my portfolio even further. This shoot is very similar to what Relander does by emerging a photo of a person and nature together.
AO2 - I used a Canon 600D to take these photos with my settings set to ISO 200 and shutter speed set to 1/125 through out the whole shoot. My aperture was varied during the shoot but was mostly kept to f11. For this shoot, I was in the studio and I used two soft boxes on either side of the camera and a white back drop. I didn't use a tripod because I wanted to be able to freely move the camera so I can get a variety of angles of the model because I was still not too sure on what I wanted yet.
AO3 - My idea for recording A Reflection of Nature was to present the idea that people themselves was reflecting about nature. I wanted to capture the model deep in thought to portray how they are thinking about nature and how we are slowly damaging our planet and we have very limited time to turn things around until the damage it permanent. I found when looking back at my photos later, I preferred the photos to where the model was looking off into the distance because in my opinion, they look more like the model is deep in thought compared to the model staring straight into the camera.
AO4 - In my opinion, I feel as if I have produced a strong series of images because I have developed on my way of thinking about reflection. Also, this project becomes more personal to me because I feel strongly about our planet and how we need to start making more actions to help produce a more safer and stable world for future generations.
Manipulating My Images
I have combined three shoots together so I ended up having the same screenshots as before. I combined multiple shoots because I wanted to link my work together and keep my portfolio images closely linked with one another.
For this shoot, I dragged the landscape photo from Shoot 4 on top of the model and then rubbed out the excess so it made it seem that the landscape was inside the person. After getting rid of the excess, it manipulated the opacity and tried to get the right balance between the two photos so one wasn't over powering the other.
I decided to take the blue butterfly photo from Shoot 5 into photoshop and use the quick selection tool to only select the butterfly and get rid of the background. After, I dragged the image onto a picture of the model and rearranged the sizing so the images was a lot smaller then the original. Then I quickly copy and pasted the new arranged butterfly photos and pasted it multiple time onto the model and then placed them so they were covering her completely. I moved the each photo in a different position so it helps break the photo up a bit more and adds more texture. After placing each butterfly in a position I was happy with, I used the rubber tool to rub out any parts of the butterfly that was on the outside of the models silhouette so everything fitted in nicely. Then I grouped all of the layers of the butterflies into one big folder and changed to opacity so they were slightly faded and you were able to see the model underneath.
