Animated GIF

Animated GIF

An animated GIF is multiple of pictures/ frames in a single file, played in a sequence to create and moving picture effect.

Image Bank

I used these as my image bank photos because they all have smooth transitions between each frame which I would like to achieve with my own animated GIF.

Contact Sheet

I decided to use these photos to create my animated GIF because it would create the illusion that someone is walking away from the camera. Also, the model is wearing a read coat in the photos which helps attract more attention to them walking away.

I like these photos because I have created a path by taking photos of the model walking away, dragging the viewers through the whole photo as they follow the model walk away. Also, I like how in these photos, the clouds and trees are also moving to help with the effect that the whole image is moving not just the person.I like these photos because I have created a path by taking photos of the model walking away, dragging the viewers through the whole photo as they follow the model walk away. This makes the photo seem more like a video because more details are moving which is not the model.

However, I do not like these photos because I did not take enough photos to create a smooth transition between each frame because I left big gaps from when taking the different photos. Therefore, this will make my animated gif seem more jumpy because there will be steps/ movements missed from the model because I didn't take photos of each photo. This makes my animated gif less interesting because it would seem more like different photos being put together instead of a video.

To take these photos I used my Cannon 600D and a tripod. I used a tripod because it would make my animated gif look more smoothly put together when I've edited everything because the background, especially the ground will not move, making the overall gif seem more natural.

Manipulating My Photos

To create this Animated GIF I used photoshop. I entered all of the photos I wanted to use into photoshop and layered them on top of each other. Then, I created a video timeline and put each photo into different sections to create an evenly timed and space between each photo. By doing this, it created a smooth transition between each photo making the overall image seem more realistic.

I like how this ended up because by having the person wearing a red coat helps them stand out even further and helps them draw more attention. Also, I like how I have experimented with a new technique and have successfully created an animated GIF of someone walking away. I like how I have other features, such as the clouds and trees, to make GIF seem more realistic and natural because it isn't just the person moving away. However, to improve this GIF further I will take more pictures of the person walking away to make the GIF seem less jumpy and make it seem more like a video creating an interesting affect. Also, by using more photos, it will allow me to practice to layer more photos together and put them into a video timeline.
